Hopper's Nighthawk scene drew my attention at first glance and this guidebook has become an oft referred to source of the Institutes collection.

    from Lovettsville, VA:

Purchased prior to my first visit to the Art Institute in May. Found it helpful in selecting where I would focus my attention for the visit. After my visit it has helped my remember, integrate and ponder what I have seen and learned. It also makes me anticipate eagerly my next visit. It was and is well worth the purchase price.

Purchased this after my visit to the Chicago Art Institute in early June. The comprehensive guide provided an excellent review of the many beautiful art objects that I experienced while creating a desire to return.

    from Grove City, PA:

This updated guidebook is much appreciated. As with the older edition, the illustrations of artworks are superb and the written comments on each are thought-provoking. The guide is well worth its modest cost and will make your visits to the Institute much more rewarding. Or you can enjoy highlights from the collection from your armchair at home. I highly recommend this book!
